ANCILLARY SERVICES

For your convenience, we feature onsite ancillary services, including lab and ultrasound services.

Please know that specimens are read by an outside physician group of radiologists and pathologists and will charge a separate fee for interpreting your results.

This is common in most internal medicine practice clinics.

MEDICATION PRESCRIPTION AND REFILLS

In order to better serve you, we require at least 72 hours of advance notice for all medication refills. Please contact your pharmacist and ask them to send the request to our office.

An appointment may be required before we can authorize the refill, including the possibility of lab work. Controlled medications, such as but not limited to pain medication, will require an appointment every 30 to 90 days for a refill.

All medications will be electronically prescribed to reduce medications error associated with illegible handwriting. This enables the pharmacies to accurately interpret and dispense medication more efficiently.

Please bring your medication bottles to every visit. The medical assistant will update these each time you visit the clinic and keep a current list. This is important as we want to make sure the medications you take, including over-the-counter ones, do not present adverse effects.

DIABETES MANAGEMENT

A LISTENING EAR

Some people with diabetes have been dismissed or even shamed by doctors and other medical professionals. At Coastal Carolina Internal Medicine PA, we lead with empathy and courtesy.

For example, while weight loss can be a legitimate aspect of diabetes management services, we understand that fluctuating blood glucose levels and even diabetes medications can make losing weight difficult.

You need compassionate medical guidance, not judgment. We'll help you find a diabetes management plan that works for you and your lifestyle.

A Rational Approach

Our treatment is based on medical research and best practices. We want to help you understand diabetes so you can discuss your problems and needs clearly and make informed choices.

When you provide your doctor with information about your life and learn about your medical care from your doctor, the two of you can create a plan for your health.

Diabetes management isn't the same for any two patients, but your management plan is likely to include:

  • Blood Glucose Level Testing

  • Blood Pressure Management

  • Cholesterol Management

  • Exercise

  • Foot Exams

  • Insulin Therapy

  • Medication

  • Nutrition

  • Oral Hygiene

  • Stress Management

  • Patient Education
