Dr. Jose I. Ros
Dr. Jose I. Ros, is a fun-loving person. Born and raised in Cebu, Philippines, he grew up loving the outdoors.
Dr. Ros earned his pre-med degree in Biology in 1985 at Cebu Velez College and medical degree in 1989 at Cebu Doctors College of Medicine. After 3 years of internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at Perpertual Soccour Hopsital in Cebu, he decided to migrate to New York in 1992. As a foreign medical graduate, Dr. Ros took several qualifying exams as a prerequisite for the US physician residency program. While reviewing for the boards, he worked as a research associate in forensic psychiatry at Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center in Wards Island, NY for about 1 year. In 1994, He entered the residency program of NY Medical College affiliated with Lincoln Hospital and Mental Health Center.
After graduation from the residency program and having been board certified in 1998, he became a staff attending physician at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Hospital for the next 4 years. He became the Division Chief in Internal Medicine for the Ambulatory Department in 2002. With his leadership, the ambulatory center earned a 100% JACHO score. He was commended by peers for his dedication and leadership.
Dr. Ros moved to NC where he opened up this solo practice and has been practicing in Onslow County since summer of 2002. Since then, he has served as Committee Chair for Peer Review, Performance Improvement Chair, Medical Staff Secretary, Vice Chief of Staff and Chief of Staff at Onslow Memorial Hospital. He has also served as the medical director for a home health and hospice and its affiliates as well as the chairman of the Emergency Adhoc committee at Onslow Memorial Hospital. He has kept his board-certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine in good standing all these years. He is a member of the NC Medical Society and other health networks.
Since in the 1990’s Dr.Ros has been involved in medical missions to the Philippines. He has teamed up with fellow physicians to render medical care to those who cannot afford it. He continues to offer medical assistance in his practice such as free prescription assistance programs and free diabetes classes. Call us
